_ /Spr. TASS Artem Kuznetsov/. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) included karate, surfing, baseball/softball, rocking and skateboarding in the 2020 Olympic Games programme in Tokyo. The decision was unanimously adopted at the 129th session of the organization, which precedes the launch of the Rio Games.
The inclusion of these sports is expected to increase the Olympiad copper programme by 18 sets, for which 474 athletes will fight.
"In December, we will present a final plan on sports facilities for these sporting events. New sports will make the Tokyo Games the most innovative in the history of Olympiad, said the head of the Olympiad Coordinating Committee in Tokyo, IOC Vice-President John Coates.
IOC noted that new species would complement the Olympic programme, they would not be included in replacement. At the same time, the " new package " of competitions will be used exclusively for the Olympics in Tokyo, and the next summer Olympics will form a competition programme based on its current format.
